St James’ Church, designed by Francis Greenway and consecrated in 1824, is the oldest church in continuous use in the City of Sydney.

Following her award winning conservation work to the exterior of the building, Letizia Coppo (as senior associate with Design 5 Architects) was engaged to oversee the painting, polishing and conservation of the church interior.

Work extended to investigating and recording original colour schemes, repairs to early pressed metal ceilings, re-painting of the nave and crypt interiors, re-polishing of decorative timber joinery and floor re-finishing.
